help understanding a code.

ok i looked up me SES code and it pulled P1870. so i looked it up and to me it maid no sense. so the only thing i want to know is, is it a major thing. i know it has to do with the trans. but after that i don't understand it. i changed the trans fluided 6 months ago and there were no metel shavings or any thing like that.

What "made no sense"?? The code means you have a transmission component slipping. Slipping is bad.

thank you. i know that any thing slipping is bad but what is it. does it mean that i will have to replace the trans. in a short wile. does it mean that it will screw up my engine or what .

It means that a component in the transmission is slipping. To determine further, diagnostic steps must be performed. If you are not able to do these tests, then you should take it to someone that can.
There is really no use speculating what component is slipping (did you read the P1870 Explained thread and accompanied TSB in the DIY section?).
No, it will not hurt your engine. It is not doing your transmission any good though.

I fix this code a couple times a month with valve body repair. TCC reg valve wears out. Valve body needs bored oversize and oversized TCC reg valve is installed.
I always do the AFL valve as well cuz it causes lots of problems, one of which is the dreaded direct clutch failure.
