Default Hesitating Shifting

My Jimmy was at the mechanic the other day so he could have a look at it and let me know of anything coming up....so while he had it I drove my dads 97 Jimmy 4x4 for a few days. When going from first to second and second to third the truck hesitates and kind of lurches to get in the next gear. Downshifting is smooth and when it gets into third, truck runs smooth. This tends to happen more when it is cold or wet outside I think he said....any suggestions...I am thinking shift silenoids...

BTW...my Jimmy needs new motor mounts and a new evaporator... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

sounds like he ahs engine problems. When was the last time the truck had a tune up?

If it was the tranny, it would happen aevery time. the only way a tranny is temp sesitive is if the fluid is too thick. Rain wont affect a trannys performance.

Howver cold nad rain will affect ignition.

That was my second thought...ignition...however that would be the only symptom so far..starts fine, etc.

A cracked cap or corrosion on the cap or rotor will cause ignition problems, expecially in the rain and cold. That is where I would start. These 4.3L require high performance ignition parts. Your el cheapo parts from the local parts store wont last but a couple months and leave you scratching your head wondering what is wrong now. Spend hte money on good parts.
