Default how to find out year of engine

I just bought a 01 blazer 4x4. When i went to get parts for it (a serpintine belt and thermostat) the parts that
the parts store gave me would not fit! After double checking the parts, I was able to use the numbers on the belt to get the correct parts, these parts fit a 99 or older 4.3? My blazer is an 2001, anyone know how to check
the engine year or any others suggestions!!!

you would have to find the casting number on the block and look it up either at the dealer or in a book you can also find that info online. each number will tell you everything you need to know about the engine.
