Default how long life is the engine?

just wondering how much of a life i can expect from the engine? im getting a blazer from my dad, has over 150K miles, trans isnt as old. motor doesnt smoke, but i really dont know how long i can expect it to live. its obvoisly the 4.3 , i had one in a astro that went to about 175K and was still going after we traded it, but it was the older tbi version (175 hp) this one is multiport, about 190hp. body looks good. dad has another blazer, a '96 with 200K and a blown trans. it was parked and this '98 was bought. im thinking maybe i should get the motor from the '96 and slowly do a rebuild so that if this one im getting craps out, id have a fresh short block to drop in. whats the average going milage rate of life for the 4.3?

My 95 has 190k and counting. My friend's Sonoma had over 600k on it. All depends on how you treat it and take care of it.

I have 230k on mine, everything else will go out before the motor itself. Lucky you got a parts rig!

i had over 240,000 miles on my '92 T15 Jimmy when i replaced it-but was purely owner error on it needing replaced (leaky filter lines, and i shoulda checked the level before the wife went on a road trip )
