Default K5 Auto to Manual Tranny

I'm sure this has been discussed before but for the life of me I can't seem to find anywhere.

Which manual transmission is a direct swap for the stock automatic?

There is not a whole lot of K5 stuff here yet...

As far as which manual transmission was offered in your year K5, there were actually quite a few. As far as being a direct swap, well...

I believe the most common is the SM465. You will likely need a different adapter for your transfer case and possibly a different input shaft for the t-case as well.

My book refers to 3 different manual transmissions
a 3 speed that's all it says.
4 speed 89mm
4 speed 114mm
These numbers of little help. Looked all around. Any clues?

There were quite a few 3 speed transmissions.

Are you sure it says 114MM? I have found some references that state that the SM465 == 117MM.

I only found one reference that said anything about the 89MM and that was only to say that it was a 4spd w/ a 25% OD 4th gear and that it was in late model 1/2-ton Chevy trucks. But that was it.

You're right it was 117mm. Where'd you find that?

It was just something that turned up when I did a google search on it. I think it was on the FullSizeChevy.com forum.
