Default loseing reverse gear?

the past 3 days ive started the blazer after its been sitting for the night it'll take a good 5-10mins for the reverse gear to "kick-in". once i shift from park into reverse and press the gas it acts like im in neutral, then i shifted into drive and i could feel theblazer wanting to go forward, so i shift back into reverse and nothing, the motor revs but no wheel spin or any kind of movement, but after waiting a few mins i shifted to park then to reverse again and i could feel it engage and it was back to acting normal. so is the tranny taking its last breath?? btw i also checked the tranny fluid and its a-ok.

I can't tell you what broke, but what I can tell you is I had the same issue with my 96 Blazer. It cost me $1100 to have the transmission rebuilt and removed and reinstalled. That included some mods that needed to be done to the transmisson.

possibly the sun gear shell. it controls reverse and the high gears... a aftermarket sun shell runs somewhat of 30 bucks just call your local tranny shops they keep 4l60e's in stock....the life expectancy of a 4l60e is 100,000 but i just replaced my sun shell and reverse sun gear and it runs like a champ.

Having the same problem with mine. All forward gears work great all the time. It has been suggested that the filter & oil needs to be changed. I will try that and let you know.
