Default low temp but good heat

Hey guys, first timer here so sorry if I do something wrong. I just bought a 97 blazer with 120k which I thought was good. The check engine light came on next day reading torque converter and tranny codes. Had fluid checked, it was flushed at 90 k, had radiator flushed( don't like dex) and oil change. Cat converter was changed at 117k but my key gets stuck and when it does the truck goes into limp. Had alt and starter tested, both good but bad battery. Just replaced that and cleaned terminals and batt to frame ground. I'm still running 145 temp no matter how long I drive but I get good heat inside. Planning on changing ignition switch next week, could that be the cause? Thanks for any help!

Default forgot to say...

I didn't mention I've also replaced the t-stat twice. Maybe go for 3?

Original stat is 195F and normal operating temp needs to be ~200F. If it will not achieve that, the stat is the problem. It will affect engine performance and fuel mileage if it's low. Find a Stant Premium thermostat and radiator cap. Might want to consider using Dexcool too, it was used for a reason, several actually. MANY threads here on the forum, and online, explain why. Not going to get into it again here, but be aware.

1997 ignition switch is unique to that year and it is known to cause numerous electrical issues, including transmission DTC's. All brands of switches have the same issues, but AC Delco seems to last the best.

Thank you cpt hook! I found a parts store right down the street with stant stat and cap, heading down now. I'll look more into the dex issue too, seems what I read says as long as I flush it on schedule for the coolant it should be ok. I did see the aluminum corrosion part though. I just changed it, think it'll be good for a season? Didn't see any time frames. Again, thanks for the advice!
