Unhappy migrating a/c compressor?/////

ok im stumped on this one and ive checked the treads but found no answer. Ok heres what happened as i was driving home after work and i ran in to a very heavy rain storm and had hit a few large water puddles unavoidable ones after a short bit out of no where my belt started squealing like no other. When i got home i discovered that it was my coming from my a/c compressor pulley and after looking at it closely it appears that my compressor, ( not sure if it is the whole thing or just the pulley, pretty sure the whole thing ) has moved about 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch forward and has chewed the heck out of my belt, so im wondering why it did this and how do i fix it??????????????? Any help would be awsome.

Sounds like the bearing went bad. How much play is there in the pulley after you pull the belt?

Bolts loose? Have you lined up the pulleys? How have you determined that it has moved 1/4-1/3"? That's pretty far.

bolts are tight and its very noticable just looking at it in relation to the other pulleys and you can see it in the belt that it is like straining the belt forward.

I wouldnt think there's a difference between the 99 and 01, yours is mounted above the PS pump on same bracket, right?
It's impossible for the compressor to move on that large bracket, I would think.. without flopping around, anyway.

You should not be able to get the uncut part {above the cuts} of your ignition key between the back of pulley and adjacent rib on mounting boss
