Ok so not long ago I replaced the fuel pressure regulator in my 95. Now it idles rough and runs even rougher when you put it in gear. Also the check engine light flashes for awhile then will cut off and then start flashing again. It runs no differently with the light on or off. There is no cat or stock muffler on there right now so that's not the problem. All o2 sensors are there so it can't be that. Also at times when your accelerating it "bogs down" I use this term loosely as bogging down is exactly what it is but the best description. This is random and spuratic. And last symptom is its running rich. I'm afraid the fuel spider is bad but I'm not sure. Also the truck is the obd 1.5 and I've hooked a computer up to it numorus times with no codes. Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Sitting here thinking, and since no one has replyed yet, would a clogged egr cause these problems? Or possibly not enough back pressure on the exahust?

well I'm suprised no one put in any input. But I guess I'm springing for the spider next there's nothing else that is causing it. The smell of fuel gets worse everyday and I took a peak back inside the intake and its still pooling some so I'm just going to replace the whole thing.

Are you sure it's the spider? What about the fuel lines inside the upper plenum- "nut kit"?

@ cochran ...

I may have had the same issues you're having a couple years back. Really rough idle no matter what, CEL blinking constantly, and mine would barely accelerate and would top out @ about 15 MPH. My OBD II reader didn't tell me anything but when i nursed it too my mechanic, it ended up being a clogged injector. He told me the ECM sees a bad injector as a "major" problem and cuts power to keep catastrophes to a minimum. He swapped out the faulty injector and all was well again. I can't say whether or not i had any fuels leaks because i didn't look.

I don't recall having any other repairs done at that time, and i remember it was running fine the night before.

'95 4.3 4x4, btw. Hope this helps.

Nope I'm not sure. My truck has 192xxx on it so I'm now just assuming it needs to be replaced as the spider in there now looks as if its the orginal. I have to wait till next month to buy anything as for I live off the VA for school and Had to move this month to a new apartment so I'm about out of funds. The trucks drivable for right now so I baby it and pray to god shell old together until the 1st. Ill try a nut kit first and I wish I had a pressure gauge but here again no money can't buy one and no one rents em down here. And @ ridered my truck will still do 50 with no problem.

Edit: I know its something in the intake though since you can smell the fuel bad when you open the hood. Somehow Ill nurse it back to health and eventually I have a build idea for.a newer 4.3 so its more tunable with the newer ecm or a fuel injected v8. But that's probably a few years away haha.

Ok update to this:
Today I pulled the intake out again because it started running worse and worse. Pull it all apart to find out the fpr isn't really that tight. But I figure while I'm here I will look at the spider and see if I can see cracks and whatnot. Nothing on the exterior body of the spider so I procede to pull each injector. They all "look" clean and so does each injector port where the injector plugs into. I pull the connection apart on top of the spider and make sure its clean put it back and make sure the connection is good. So back to that fpr that wasn't that tight. I figured screw it I'm here so I pull it apart to make sure the o-rings are good and there's no trash or corosion in there. Looks good so I put it back in there and make sure its real nice and tight. Put the intake back in and start er up. Well it was a little tough to start but that's expected. So it idles very well not perfect but better than it has since this whole mess started after thanksgiving. Take it for a drice (less than a mile) and its still running a whole lot better. I pull back in and the SES light starts flashing again. But its not acting like I've got a loss of power like it has the past few days. Last night I couldn't hardly get the truck over 35mph. Today it seemed to run and have a good amount of power back. Any other ideas or does this just sound like my spiders bad?

Ok another new update. Had the truck at a bit higher of a speed today (around 50) and while driving its acting like its starved for fuel. As soon as I have the money I'm going to try and rent a gauge and see if its dropping pressure under a load. If anyone has any other ideas please chime in.
