I would take the ICM (Ignition Control Module) and the Coil off and have them tested, make sure who ever tests them does it multiple times rapidly. Have a read thru this article also https://blazerforum.com/forum/showth...ighlight=P0300

Pulled the plugs to take a look, and the (brand new) plugs on the passenger side were fouled black, and smelled of gas. The drivers side looked fine.

I pulled the upper plenum, and had the key cycled while watching the fuel pressure regulator. I saw no leaks, and/or fuel puddles.

???

I pulled the passenger side valve cover, and found the rear-most rocker on the #6 cylinder completely loose. runs better now, but small ticking from driver side.

Will update with results.

All driver side rockers were tight. Still ticking from Driver side.

Any ideas?

Have you contacted advance auto, or Marshall and let them know so you don't void out any warranty by doing this yourself?? If its not running right and its mechanical you should be able to get a replacement engine or you can tell them whats wrong and they can let you know if its ok to pull the valve cover and check it out, most reman engines have certain bolts marked with some kind of paint and if that's broken when it is sent back the warranty will be void

I have not contacted Marshall Engines yet. I am in contact, and very friendly with the guys at Advanced. I told them what's up, and they told me to let them know what I wanted to do.

As far as removing the valve covers go... A notice came with the engine that the warranty would be VOID if the engine was not "primed prior to start with the proper tool, until oil appeared at the top of the rockers".

How would I know if the rockers produced oil if I didn't remove at least one valve cover?

Just my thinking... Hope I don't have to eat a crap sandwich because I fixed one of their screw-ups....

Default Update

OK....

So it looks like i got it fixed. Thightnening the rocker, replacing the distributor, plug wires, and cap didn't seem to fix the problem.... That is... Until I noticed i switched the 4 and 6 wires at the cap when I changed the wires. :: dUH ::

So, not sure exactly what it was (other than the loose rocker) because I created my own problem.

But at least it's fixed! Thanks for the help!

Skip the compression test and go right to a leak down test I had a simular problem ended up being an exhaust valve was torqued to tight from the assembly plant I properly torqued it and it went away. I believe Reelbroke in the suggested thread ended up replacing his Marshal engine with a new one We were having a simular problem at the time of his thread
