Default transmission swap

I know this is a stupid question and im pretty sure i know the answer but...
I am in need of a 4l60e transmission for a 1995 blazer 4x4. I found a 4l60e but its out of a 1996 pontiac firebird obviously 2 wheel drive. I have had a couple of guys tell me that you could trade out the spacer that fits the transfer and transmission together and the 2wheel trans will work. Any opinions on that?

You would need to gut both, swapping the tail shaft from the 4wd into the 2wd.

Is that firebird a v8? Hope so. Or else there may be more differences.

Does that tail shaft come out of the tranny with a "clutch pack" still on it?
