No 1st|Overdrive after warmup
Searched until my fingers are blue and saw some similar threads but not one exact and with a solution and also looked thru the 4L60E "common problems" lists. Please HELP!
2000 Blazer LT Vortec - just the last few days it started losing 1st and overdrive after it warms up. When first starting out from cold start it shifts normally thru the gears and goes into overdrive - just fine. Then *after warmup to normal op temps* after the first downshift when slowing - it will not go back into overdrive or start off from 1st gear. Not in limp mode - all gauges/AC/electric etc still work fine...
Any ideas folks? Thanks in advance!

Could be a solenoid failure in the transmission. What is condition of your transmission fluid? Does the tranny fluid smell burnt or is it black in color?
A transmission shop might be able to tell what it is.

I know my dad had a transmission issue with his transmission shifting in and out of overdrive he was able to fix it by replacing the overdrive solenoid on his '87 S10. I also know that later model blazers with the 4L60E have 1st gear and overdrive (4th gear) sharing the 1-2 solenoid. That might be your first place to look when trying at home.
If all else fails, get a rebuilt transmission from autozone or any other auto parts seller. I believe it costs about $1800 with core charge for a rebuilt tranny from autozone, you turn in your old transmission and you'll get your core charge back which is about $500 dollars. So, about $1300 will be the total cost after everything is said and done. Hopefully you won't have to replace your transmission.

Yes - that's the 367A solenoid. And considering I only paid $1900 for it 5 years ago - I'm not going to spend $1300 for a rebuilt tranny...
Drove it to a swimming party today (about 25mins one way - 5mins to interstate :15mins highway : 5mins neighborhood streets ) and OD stayed until we got off the interstate both there and back. But as soon as we got off the interstate going there and back it went back to 2&3rd only....
