Default Odd trans problem

Getting ready to do a rebuild on my tranny and want to make sure i try to get all the parts that need upgrading/replacing at the same time.

1st problem - Boiling fluid out filler tube when under heavy load. Driving up in the mountains. Partially fixed this by changing the filter and new fluid about 3k miles ago. Now only did it on really long climbs.

Over the weekend, lost 1st and 4th like when the fuse is blown. No down shift and only manual 2nd. Fuse is good, tranny is getting power. Comp says bad 3-2 solenoid (P1889) and that is the only code. You think it is just the 3-2 solenoid that is bad or some other failure?

Just a stock 4.3l and 4l60e in a 96 Blazer

Figured i would replace all the solenoids when i go thru it. With the above symptoms, is there anything else i should replace? What kit do you recommend? I was looking at getting the master kit from www.transmissioncenter.net with the beast sun shell. Don’t really see a need to upgrade the planetaries but what about the sprags?

Typicall rebuilt parts list.

New gasket and seals.
Hi energy clutch packs- kevlar.
Pinless accumulators.
spring behind trottle valve (in valve body), may come witht eh HIgh energy kit.
Pump kick down mod.
Beast sunshell
and a shift kit if you want one.

No need to upgrade the sprag unless you broke it.

As for the overheating issue, install an after market tranny cooler and a temp guage. You can moutnt eh temp probe in the port above the shift linkage ont eh drivers side. Install a drain plug int eh pan, drain the fluid at least once per year, sooner if you runt eh tranny hot.

Thanks for the tips.

What is the correct way to get the shift linkage bracket off the tranny. That 10mm bold under the cable was a pain and could not figure out how to get the cable out of the bracket to get to the bolt with a socket.
