Default oil leak

i got a 93 s10/blazer 4.3 vortec (CPI) w/at 4x4 and 4 doors... the other day i fired her up and noticed an oil leak... its a steady drip but only when running the motor.. i checked the oil and it was low so i filled it but i parked the truck just to be safe.. the oil leaking out is black and smells and looks like engine oil.. i cannt see the leak but it is dripping from the drivier side bottom corner of the trans dust cover bolt.... my first thought was a blown rear main... does anyone have a clue how to confirm or deny that? or a possible alternative place that it might be leaking from? i need the truck back so the quicker i can get it back the better. thanks

You really need to get up under there and have a look where it is coming from. With the remote oil line adapter attached to the block in this location, it is possible that the retaining bolt has either loosened up or the seal on the adapter has failed.

Another possibility is that the oil pressure sending unit has failed and is leaking oil from the top of the block down.
