Oil line problems
I just started the Blazer on fleet service for work this last weekend on friday & saturday nightwhich includes 10+ cold starts, mixed driving of 10-55mph, & high idle time per night 3 nights per week. The oil I have been using is Mobil 1 Truck/Suv Super Syn 5W30 & an EP filter; current oil is 4 months old with about 1,000 miles into it so far. I just took a look underneath to check on the crank & oil pan seals I had earlier trouble with and replaced by the dealer, and now the oil lines have started to leak at the connector crimps! The factory warranty just ended 3 weeks ago with no extended warranty. I have babied this thing from day one with Top Tier fuel, Techron, & overkill quality synthetic 5w30 oils & filters OCIs' as per BTOG data suggestions. Can I do anything to keep this Vortec 4.3 dry of any fluids for at least its first 100k miles of service? I was thinking of switching up to a better quality and thicker 'Mobil 1 Diesel Truck/Suv 5w40' oil but the owners manual clearly states, "Do not use 5W40 oil or higher viscosity rating, 5W30 is more than capable of.......damage to engine may occur....blah blah..." I've talked to the BTOG critics, and just wanna hear frommy fellow Blazer owners. thanx!

RE: Oil line problems
That does not look all too bad yet... Sucks about your warranty, but I would just keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, replace them or R&R them.
I would not go to a thicker oil, but Mobil 1 is known to be a bit thinner (viscosity wise) than most conventionals and some synthetics.

RE: Oil line problems
Should I try a Casrol, Penz, Mobilor Maxlife semi-synthetic High Mileage oil even with 29k miles next OCI?
