how do i remove the oil pan on my 04 4x4 chevy blazer

Quoting from my 1999 factory service manual:

1. Remove and discard the engine oil level sensor ( if applicable ).
2. Remove the oil pan bolts and nuts.
3. Remove the oil pan.
4. Remove the oil pan gasket.
5. Discard the oil pan gasket.


Oh, that is once you have already removed the engine from the vehicle... you knew that right?

I just went through this learning curve to replace the timing chain. I could not figure out what was holding it on after removing all bolts !? ( In vehicle) I broke the tip off of a large craftsman screwdriver prying between the trans. bellhousing and oil pan after smacking it with a rubber mallet all over to break it loose ! No luck ! I ended up carefully removing the timing cover and reinstalling it with the pan bolts out.
