Oil Pressure
Hello, I have a 2000 4x4 4.3l. When I first start the blazer, my oil pressure gauge reads about 60 psi. Once the oil finally warms up it will drop down to 40 psi. However when the blazer is in idle, it will drop down to 20 psi but will jump back up to 40 once I step on the gas. Bad oil switch maybe? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Depends usually on lots of things. How worn the crank bearings are, pump health, plugged or slightly plugged oil passages, oil temp, ect. Too many to things worry about. As long as its around 20, thats the safe pressure for the 4.3. Ideal is 40-60. Thats why they used to never mark pressure levels on the old school guages. Just safe and high.
