Default Oil Sending Unit

Where is the oil sending unit? In a previous post someone said it was located above the starter on passenger side engine.
- I have a frick'n BAD oil leak coming above the starter, running down engine AND bell housing, flowing back to tranny pan and dropping at 3 different points Sheez! This makes a serious mess of our city streets and downright pisses me off.

PS - What is on the front of the engine just in front of intake about the size of 1/2 can of coke. Boy that sure looks like an oil sending unit to me. Screws into engine and has wire connectors on opposite end???

OPSU is located toward the driver side of the distributor, kinda half under it. The 1/2 coke can could be the EGR valve?? Front center of the engine. This is assuming you have a 96 or newer W or X engine.
