2000 blazer 4x4 4.3 4dr. 186,000 miles
Ok she started running slugish and at times it would take several trys b4 she would start i was thinking pump or filter because it would crank with a shot of ether . so one day it was running rough i unclipped the 2 electrical connectors on the air intake and she started to idle how it should i just went with it .well it started overheating noticed my coolant was rust . i did a radiator flush run truck for 15 min drove around 10 miles or and flushed again and blew air thru heater core .checked thermo was kind of rusty form coolant changed all was good for a day then she got hot again and noticed pin hole in thermo housing changed it and hose .all was good until i noticed leakage . seap hole on water pump ,changed water pump . i so now i think im in the good on the cooling . now she is starting to miss alot , hard starts and boggs when accelerating and dies on me . tow it and have a buddy/mechanic change the fuel filter, spark plugs ,dis cap and rotor . i go pick it up and i can tell thats not all she needed .he says possibly injector problem or fuel pump .ok so i get a delco pump and go to and was gonna do it myself it started and i let it run for a while before tempting to drive it home to fix .it died and i popped the hood and white smoke was coming from intake .i took it off and it billowed out of hose .i could hear a tinging sound like drops of moisture in the head .i took off the hose from head cover to intake and it and the intake had a good amount of sweat into intake and out of hose and then i noticed the dreaded discolor of oil residue at hose end. checked oil and it was milked and 3 quarts high .
should i spend the money for a shop to break it down and find the problem and fix it or better off getting a yard motor? and having it replaced . it just happened this morning so i knew the BlazerForums was my first best bet . Thanks for and advice in advance as i know this site is the BeezKneez lol . any problem i ever had with my blaz i used to google .it would lead me here everytime so i had to join and cant tell enough blazer owners if ever a problem balzerforums.com can save a lot of pain and $$$ by doing it DIY if possible .
R&R. No clue what the water has done to the bearings. If i were you id swap motors. If you could find one and hear it run before you buy it,id get it and while its out go ahead and give it some fresh gaskets,do the lower manifold gaskets, and give it a good tune up. a engine on a bench is 500 times easier to work on.
Hey thanks for the quick reply , i was leaning heavily on the R&R it only makes since but wanted a second opinion . and thanks for the tip on the lower gasket . do you have any idea .. once again thanks and now i guess its motor shopping .
