Default P0751 & p1870

2000 jimmy 4 door 4x4 4.3 auto 4L60E stock

Momma's jimmy has been slipping, fluid is a little dark and has a leak.

The shop wants to drop the pan, do a transmission flush and change the trans cooler line. Quoting 500$

My question before allowing this, what are the chances of this solving the problem, or am I looking more towards a rebuild?

Or can I get away with the solenoid A, and fixing the leak?

I'm going to pick it up sometime this week, will be able to get a visual on where the leak is coming from. The shop toped off the fluid and charged for a diagnostic for 100.

Doing more slow research, and found these.

Has anyone had to deal with these? and am I just prolonging a trans rebuild?

It does shift a little better now that they CHANGED the fluid, yes all the fluid. But it still does NOT go into second without a manual shift.

Unlikely the fresh fluid and solenoid will solve the problems you describe. Will the transmission shift past second gear after manual shift?

Could be the band servo has cut seals. Second and fourth use the band to achieve these gears.

Thank you!

I had suspicions that the transmission would need to be opened up more then just the pan and flush. Although it's hard to say if this is the problem, it is better then waisting 500$ just to replace the unit the next day..

Thanks again
