problem with a fuel pump i think
I was driving to work and my 1990 Chevrolet full size blazer died out and would crank but not turn over. Thought I might be out of gas so I add 5 gallons and spreaded started fueled in the air intake it'll run for a little bit but then died again. My friend said he couldn't hear the fuel pump could this be the problem and is there a way to check the pump
well you can go to the relay or connection at pump if you can reach, with a ohm meter and see what resistance you have. if it reads ol than you got a problem in the wiring or the pump is fried. if you get a reading of say 500ohm than the pump or wiring is shorted most likely the pump. you can also go under the truck with a rubber mallet and hit the tank in the center while someone tries to crank it over and see if it will run. if it does than you are in need of a pump. you can also try and put 12v's directly to the pump via relay and see if it turns on. it sounds like a pump problem but you need to do the checks to confirm before throwing parts at it. check that you have spark just to be sure.
