Default Problem when I dropped the trans pan

I went to change the trans filter and fluid today. When I lowered the pan it hooked on a small solenoid (there are two right next to each other) on the back corner of the transmission. It has a coil of copper wire with two wires connected to a two wire harness that plugs into it. it seperated in half and broke the two small copper wires. If it helps this part is held in place by a clip and if you pull the clip it slides out the rear of the transmission and there are two of them side by side. Can anyone tell me what this part is called and what it does?

Thanks

it might be a shift solenoid....... you are going to have to replace it before you can drive the car again.... i would take it out and take it to either a trans shop, or maybe a parts house.
