700R4 pump grenaded. any ideas on why it would? and if i should do an overhaul or just replace the parts that were affected? i understand that the overhaul would be the best route but it's was rebuilt about 3 years ago and doesn't have a whole lot of miles on it.

 

The pump could have been damaged during the original rebuild and finally gave up.

If I were dropping a transmission, I would be rebuilding it completely, but if it was only done 3 years ago (depending on mileage and abuse), you should be ok. Whatever you do, have the internals inspected.
