Repeatingly fouling Cap out
As stated in title, I am having an on going problem with fouling out caps on the dist. I ran 2 cheap ones from autozone and then decided to run the Gold Series and it has lasted longer but is now acting like it has a small studder.
Symptoms: With a new cap it runs like a raped ape for a few weeks or so and then it will begin to miss out at partial throttle (10%-25% throttle maybe less), if you contine at that mark it will miss out till it shifts then do the same again after shifting. If you smash the throttle at that point it takes off like a raped ape once again. I have taken a "Fouled" cap off and sanded down the terminals and this fixes it for awhile but will foul back out. This all was after a RR of a Intake Manifold Gasket job. This is on a 00' GMC Jimmy 4x4.

i think the proplem is the cap is still an autozone cap.

Replace it with a Delco cap.

Replaced the whole dist. on Thursday. Guess we'll see how it does.
The "points" were all white on the cheap caps and basically shared the same condition on the "Gold" series cap.
Vent holes looked to be fine.
