Default Replaced Battery Now truck won't start

I recently had the battery on my '96 Blazer 4x4 go dead. Got a new battery in and now it won't start at all. Interior and hazard lights blink for a minute or two when I first get in but truck will do nothing to attempt to start. Keys don't get locked in the column. I tried looking up the answer but have gotten nowhere. Any help? Thanks.

Just went to double check. Yes, polarity is correct.

Headlights work radio turns on wipers all acc. work. Seems to maybe be some sort of anti-theft system? When I put the key and turn to on position the radio lights blink bright then dim and my hazard lights flash in time with the radio lights. I don't have a FOB and my truck was purchased used so I don't have any sort of chipped key.

I don't have a multimeter. It's now started a beeping noise at the same time as the lights blinking.

you need to trace the power from the battery to be sure you have power at the ignition switch and coming out of the ignition switch when needed. a multimeter is a huge help with this. beyond that someone else with more experience in this may chime in. (if i remember right the earlier 2nd gen blazers had ignition switch problems)

On my way to buy a multimeter now. Where do I need to check other than at the battery.
