Default Shift problems on rebuilt trans 2000 blazer

So I just did a transmission swap to a rebuilt one but I can only start in neutral not In park, also when in D it will not shift through the gears, but i can shift between gears fine manually, will need a new shift linkage it is broken so not on correctly, says Rervese when in Park but I can shift into reverse neutral 1st, 2nd, I think it won’t go into 3rd because of shift linkage but when in D it will not shift at all, could this be the transmission I just bought? Ps: When I go Under the truck and turn manually I can go through every gear

This is a shot in the dark but we have an expert here who likely can tell you what: I've heard of shift levers on the transmission being installed backwards. Sounds crazy but there it is.

Mine was doing pretty much the same thing. I had the shift cable replaced and it works fine now.

Golf addict, so yours wouldn’t shift in drive through the gears? I feel like the shift link has nothing to do with that

Did you use the MLPS off of the old transmission? If you did it’s more than likely broken.

I could shift into reverse, neutral, and drive. Nothing else. My shift cable was messed up pretty bad. If I disconnected it from the tranny I could manually hit all positions.
