Starting up a motor that has sat for about a year
I have a 90' 4.3L S10 Blazer that has sat for about a year now due to front end damage (accident with a guardrail). The truck is just about fixed up now after a long period of procrastination. What procedure should i do to have my motor fire right back up. I know to drain the tank/lines and change my fuel filter. What else do i need to do??

I'd pull the plugs and squirt in some oil. Then turn over the engine by hand a few revolutions. Then with the plugs still out, turn it over with the starter to build the oil pressure up. Once you have oil pressure, put the plugs back in and have at it.

Plus, after having the engine at operating temperature for about 5 minutes, change the oil and filter.

I hope you have a fuel stabilizer in the tank. Hopefully the tank is low and you can add some fresh gas.....just to add to the 2 previous posts, with which I also agree.
