Default timing?

I had a 84 2.8 V6 carburated and put in a 88 2.8 V6 TBI model. The guy changed my intake and oil pump and pan so I wouldn't have to find a computer and still my able to use my carb, etc. My question is the timing was 8 degrees for the 84 motor and the 88 motor shows 10 degrees. Which should I use 8 or 10 degrees? I didn't know if TBI made any difference in the timing? Thanks
