So i just replaced my distributer on my 89 s10 blazer 4.3 and despite being as careful as possible to mark everything and move slowly i still managed to throw my timing off horribly! It will reluctantly fire up for a split second and then crap out. I am at a loss and need to get my baby up and runnin again. Any links to videos or diagrams would be appreciated. I dont know where to go from here.

 

Usually this type of vehicle behavior indicates retarded timing. Try turning the distributor counter-clockwise 5° (looking from the top) and see if it starts and improves. Once you get it running you will need to get a timing light on it. If you run out of space to turn the distributor, then you will need to remove and reinstall it. Good luck. If all else fails put the engine on TDC #1 (compression stroke) and drop the distributor in with the rotor pointing directly at #1 on the cap, then turn it counter clockwise just a little (maybe 5°) and start it - after that get the timing light on it. You may also want to check your firing order - plug wires could be switched.
