Torque Convert or tranny issue?

Torque Convert or tranny issue?
Ok, here is the latest issues. While the engine is at an idle everything is fine. Once I start accelerating, the trans seems to slip in all gears. The RPM's jump 1000 RPM on acceleration, yet speed doesn't increase until it peaks 1000 above the previous level. I can smell the tranny while in operation, and when the dipstick is pulled, the fluid is brown and smells burnt. It almost acts like a bad Torque Converter or it may be the Tranny. The truck has 218K on the original trans and engine (no rebuilds or replacment at all) Any ideas?

you need to do a stall test but its hard trying to find the oem stall test spec. maybe, hopefully someone will chime in with the spec or knows a little more. if the fluid is burnt more than likely you have eaten some of the clutch material causing a slip. its very rare that a torque converter fails, in the 10yrs i have in the trade 5 automotive and 5 heavy trucks havent seen one yet. its good practice to replace the torque converter when the tranny is rebuilt.

Thank you WAR. Yeah, I have had this Blazer for almost nine years now and have put over 180K on the truck. It has never been rebuilt so Im sort of thinking maybe best to replace the transmission and TC to be on the safe side
