I have a 96 4x4 LS and I have a tranny all lined up but I was told that there is a 1 piece & 2 piece version of the 4L60E. Did they use both in the 96's? If so, is there an easy way to find this out without dropping the trans?

You should have the single piece main case. Just take a look at it.

Just crawl under the truck and look at the tranny, it should be obvious. If you need to compare, go find a newer blazer and crawl under that one too. It is pretty easy to tell a two piece from a single case tranny.
