Default Tranny handling question

I have a 98 4x4...motor just rebuilt; want to service transmission...probably a silly question but will it hurt anything if i flip it on its side or upside down if necessary to pull pan and service it?

Thnx much and happy holidays!

Shouldn't have an issue, I have seen them being worked on while on a bench so the underside can be get into.

Thnx guys...I didnt think it would be a problem and asking never hurts. Transfer case is out also...while I had no problems with it; is there anything that I should do to it?

always a good idea to ask. The only dumb question is an unasked question. I would just do a visual inspection. Does anything look wet? Are the seals on the transfer case intact, are there any cracks anywhere, Is there any heat marks or discoloration? Oh and i would definitely look at your rear main seal in your engine to make sure it isn't leaking. Look for any oil on or around the flexplate(automatic) or flywheel(manual) if you prefer because the flexplate is mounted to the crankshaft and that is where your rear main seal is. Last thing i can think of is look at some of the 4x4 vacuum hoses. Any cracks or marks on them. Good Luck and Good job on getting the transmission and transfer case out. That is no easy job. Believe me i know.
