ok transman304...I had the neutral safety switch replace today and the problem with it shifting through all gears on the dash lights fine except when shifting to neutral it jumps up to park and locks the doors...that is now fixed ...it shifts all the way through and all the way back with no issues..but no change while driving ...still acts like it drops into neutral when it should be shifting up...if u rev the engine up at this point and let off it will shift up most times ...so what do u suggest I try now? Thanks for all ur help

Sounds like fluid level. Has it been checked?

Checked it yesterday and had to add 1 1/2 quarts so it was low again but even when I got it up to the right level nothing changed...still always shifts into 2nd fine but like it drops into neutral anything after that unless u rev ur rpm'S up real hard and let off then it will shift up most times

No idea where the fluid is going either cause I'm not leaking anywhere that I've seen or been able to find..possibly using fluid where it has to be revved so hard to get it to shift? I'm going to scan it for codes again right now

Its going in the transfer case. Bad seal between the two needs to be fixed

I would just add that if the transmission is "using' fluid it is leaking or the input seal on Transfer case has failed and you t case is way over full on fluid. It does not take long to smoke the 3-4clutches when run low on fluid.
Posted way back on post # 6. You are losing fluid through a bad tcase seal and has been run low on fluid and you have toasted the 3-4 clutch pack.

Ok.. not the need I was hoping for but at least I have an answer now... so the 3-4 clutch pack is located inside the transmission correct?
