Default tranny seems to disengage in OD

got this problem with 2001 blazer 4wd. today i was on the highway and over the course of 100 kms the tranny seemed to cut out for half a second about 4 times. it's the wierdest thing, the truck hesitated and then it was fine. it was cold today (-23) but this happened when the truck had warmed up. didn't happen when starting from a stop sign only in top gear. any ideas?

it didn't feel like it was shifting at all. it just cut out for half a second. does valve body or solenoids mean dropping the transmission? thanks for your help.
