My daughter's 2001 Blazer with 211,000 runs really well, almost.
Problem now with the tranny, It goes thru half quart of fluid about every 4-5 weeks. When it's low it slips if you take off easy or when your going over 55-60 it's like a boom, almost as if the car is stalling then picks up. It does this if the fluid is a sixteenth" below the line.
I'm taking it in Monday to a local transmission repair shop. Since it does it only when low could it be a pressure type leak? Just curious is all. No fluid is found dripping or in her parking spot.
Thanks

Took to local trans shop and he drove it a few day and nothing other then fluid was low. He said there was a slight drip from the pump. He suggested driving it and add fluid. Said a pint every month or so is cheaper then replacing pump.
Oh and only charged $5.00 for the fluid. WOW!!!!

How low is it when the problem appears? These transmissions have a filter that picks up very close to the bottom of the pan, you would have to be at least 2-3 quarts low (off the stick) to have issues like you describe. If a pint is all it takes, you may have a cracked filter or a bad filter grommet. If it is doing it at a pint, change the fluid and filter, making sure the filter grommet is replaced too. Every time it slips, you are overheating the clutches and burning them.
They may also have the wrong filter installed. Early models of this trans used a shallower pan, if an early filter is installed it will sit an inch or so above where it should in the deep pan, creating these symptoms.
