Default Trans questions....

Can you put a floor shift 4l60e into a column shift truck? I didn't even know there was a floor shift 2wd blazer but this is my first blazer so that tells you my experience with them. Not long after buying it, it slips into second gear, third is perfect, slips into fourth, and O/D is kinda screwy when it's cold but fine at temp, but that is why i'm considering just changing it. No records, fluid is brown but doesn't smell burned, if i change the fluid could it fix this problem or kill the trans? 185000 miles

Sure can so long as the donor truck was also 2wd like yours (unless you want to get into swapping tailshafts).

no I'm good on that plus i'm a truck driver so i need this car to stay together while i'm gone 3 weeks at a time. found a shop that will put in trans for 350 now i just got to get the trans. Option B am discussing swapping out car for something else seller has on his lot may not have to replace trans. But if I did, I could probably do the swap myself, but i live in an apartment time is a factor being that i can't just leave it in pieces in the parking lot otherwise i'm very hands on. Any input on fluid situation?

Fluid changes are rarely a cure for problems. If you feel like giving it a whirl, it won't hurt anything.

if the trans has 185xxx on it and the fluid is brown, i would not touch it. ive done so many trans services, againts my own recomendations because people think im trying to sell them a tranny job, and then there trans takes a **** 2 days later. if its about to blow up then who cares i guess, but be prepared to replace it soon. the old fluid has fiber materials that wore off the clutch plates that is crutial to keeping it from slipping.
