Default Transfer case replacement

Getting a bad popping sound coming from under the vehicle. Not the CV axles, which look fairly new and don't have any play. Also doesn't pop or click in hard turns at stoplights. Under 10mph, doesn't do it. After that, a light touch of the gas makes it pop. Fairly certain the drive chain is stretched.

Got a line on a replacement, only $150 at a junkyard. Already out of the donor vehicle, so I just need to pick it up. The donor vehicle is a 1996 Olds Bravada, mine is a 1997 with 165k miles.

Any seals I should replace on the donor case before putting it in my vehicle?

Input seal is a must do. Both outputs could be changed after it is installed if needed. Why not do all 3 while it’s out and easy to do? Dont forget about needing a new gasket for transmission extension housing to transfer case. Good luck.

I've noticed on RockAuto and AutoZone that there are two different output shafts, 27 and 32 spline. They should be the same between the 96 and 97 model years, shouldn't they?

i suppose, worst case, I just need to go get another yoke. I guess I can also find out by dropping the rear driveshaft and taking out the yoke and trying it on the donor case before getting too far ahead.
