Transmission Noises

Hello! I'm driving a K5 90'. my transmission makes banging noises when i push the gas paddle, and between changing gears. i checked for oil of course, any ideas what could be the problem? i have little understanding in this compartment.

I'm no expert on transmissions, but it could be metal debris in the tranny, which would mean clutches are worn. The only way I know of to check is to pull the pan and see if there's any metal in the fluid or in the filter. Anybody else, please feel free to correct me if I'm way off.

let's say that i drained all the oil out and found debris in the filter - what do i do next?

Change the filter and put new fluid in

oh, so what you mean is that the debris are making the bangs that i hear in the transmission or what?

Well, like I said, I'm no expert on transmissions, but I would imagine metal debris spinning around in there would make some kind of noise. But I suppose it could be any number of things, a bent input/output shaft, a warped sun gear, or it might not even be the tranny come to think of it, could be a bad U-joint. Do you have any hard shifts, or missed shifts, or clutch slippage?

well the transmission works fine, no mishaps what so ever. only an occasional bang.. my u joints are tight as well..
