If the fluid is full and has good color to it (red), then you are likely looking at a worn out transmission. Not too good for you... You might want to have it looked at by a transmission shop for confirmation though.
mines having similar issues with mine. what i found out is the kevlar belts on the inside on the transmission are worn out and takes a little more to catch correctly. eventually that belt will wear through enought then snap. causeing the transmission to go out.
Thanks how much does it cost to get a rebuilt on one of these or if i got one from a salvage yard how much would a tranny shop charge me to swap them
honestly i couldnt tell you. im still riding on mine until it does go out. when it does go out i plan on swapping the motor and tranny out of it from one from a 89 4x4 that i took out of my other blazer i had. i know on www.eatmyshift.com you can get a brand new one for about a grand. but thats a performance transmission so you might be able to find one cheaper somewhere else.
No adjustment to bands.
Find a local tranny shop and ask the same question. Tell them what it is doing and they will give a real estimate for your area.
I just answered a thread on replacing a tranny and listed all the option pros and cons. Should still be on the first page or so of the tranny forum.
