Default Transmission Questions

First, I did search through the forums to try and answer the question, but wasn't seeing anything that quite answered it. If I missed something, I do apologize.

Couple days ago, I bought a 2000 S-10 Blazer with 104K miles on it. Was told that there was a rebuilt transmission put on recently. Yesterday, was driving it down the highway when the service engine light came on, giving the error of transmission component slipping. We put transmission fluid in, and the light has since gone off (which is the good thing). If I am accelerating gently, such as typical speeds for in town, there are no issues. But if I am trying to accelerate to higher speeds from a dead stop, such as to get onto a highway, it has a rough shift going from first to second. Is this something that will fade, or is it a sign of further issues that need to be looked at?

Thank you for your time!

Well, I talked with a mechanic in my area, explained what was going on, he said that it might be the seals dried up, that he wasn't sure. He suggested putting in Lucas. Bought a bottle, put it in, and so far, it seems to have fixed the hard shift. Will still be keeping an eye on it, but I hope that is the end of this issue

You did say mechanic not transmission specialist. You have a dried up seal on a rebuilt transmission? You should not need any treatments on a recently rebuilt transmission just the proper fluid level. Does it feel like you just got rear ended at the shift, or is just a firm shift? The rear ended shift will eventually break parts. The firm shift is a good thing.

The Blazer was in storage for approximately 6 months, and the transmission was rebuilt less than 100 miles before it was put in storage. As for the shifting, it was not quite like being rear ended, but was still rough. Since putting in the Lucas, it is smooth, like it was before the light came on.
