Hey guys the trany on my 83 s-10 blazer 4x4 automatic wouldnt shift any higher than 2nd so i pulled the pan to see if i might have burnt up the clutches but the fluid is still red and there is no shavings in the pan or filter, what should i look at next?

RE: trany
i had the same problem for my 2000 but it ended up being the sun shell. after replacing it no more probs tho. usually if its the sun shell the truck will have no reverse or 3 or 4th depending on what else broke.

RE: trany
This maybe a stupid question but i dont now alot about tranny's, whats a sun shell?

RE: trany
When a reaction sun shell goes, it takes out reverse, 2nd, and 4th gears. The reaction sun shell is a hard part inside the transmission. Unless you want to get into the gritty details, I will leave it at that.
