Default Vacuum issues?

Ah my 2000 LT 4x4 is acting up. First off, some belt driven clutch is constantly engaging (AC compressor?). Also, at higher speeds my speedometer will fail and rpm's will roar to well above normal operating speeds, before it catches itself and goes back to working again. Also, occasionally it will stall on me after a jog at highway speeds and then coming to a stop; I can just watch my rpm's drop to zero and stall. Is this a vacuum problem, transmission problem, or a combination of problems? Thanks in advance...

this sounds like a combination of problem, first off ur trans is slipping i usually try doing a trans flush and fill it up and buy some lucas transmission stop slip and put it in with the atf. sometimes that will fix it sometimes it wont its a gamble but lucas has surprised me a couple times and saved me alot of money on a tranny rebuild. and you could have a vacuum leak the tell tail signs of vacuum leak is rough idle stalls out but when u jump on it runs great. first off i would take some starting fluid and spray it around the fuel injector that seal tends to go bad and leak the starting fluid will make the engine die out a little bit if there is a leak where its present. if it doesnt do anything move around and spray all around ur plenum and every vacuum line u see

Thanks for the reply! I actually discovered that the hose connected to the EGT was bad and had melted the cluster of wires that were right above them. I went the cheap route and electrical taped all exposed wires and put exhaust tape over the busted hose and voila, I'm back in business. Truck's running like a champ.
