welp,for a while ive had a small clunk when applying throttle on the interstate. now its gotten alot worse. trans shifts fine,but when going say 60 mph and i tap the throttle i hear and feel a clunk. motor mounts and trans mounts are fine. i wish it was something that simple.



Another thing is the rear diff. when i replaced the u joints on the driveshaft i noticed ALOT of turning play. (as in the shaft would turn 1 1/2 inches or so before the wheels would turn).

It'll clunk when put into reverse too at a stop.


What hard components in the trans (700r4) will cause it to clunk? I doubt another fluid change would help if its a hard part. fluid level is fine. did a pan change on it back in july.

 

sounds like they gave you the wrong joints

is there any play in the joints them selfs ?

 

there is no play between the joints,theres play within the rear diff. I need to find out how much lash is acceptable.

 

John i bet 99% you slept in the wrong position. happens to me all the time.
