Default 75 blazer busted ignition parts...

So, one morning trying to start my k5 i hear what i think was a spring breaking and then the ignition lock was loose.. turning the key there was no resistance....

After som turns the key wouldnt go past the step thats before ignition.. right up so to speak...

Took a part the steeringwheel and took out the cylinder.. which is working fine when not inside the steeringcolumn.

The part that it is turning seems to be stuck on something.. the rod thats on top of the column operating the ignition switch is just haging loose now...

I guess some part in that mechanism broke and now something is in the way for the rest of the parts to turn...

So my question is..
Should i do a complete teardown of the steeringcolumn?
I am also unable to find any part that looks like the long rod thats pushing the ignition switch on this page: 1975 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Parts - PartsGeek

Anyone know what its called?

The arrow is pointing to the peice that seems to be stuck.. that part is attaching to the end of the ignition lock....

For now i think i will start it with a button... but i would like to replace the broken things in the end...

Thank you all hope you understand :P

phase 1 remove steering column from vehicle

phase 2 throw in trash and replace with junkyard column.

phase 3 profit?

seriously though i would just scrap the column and get a new one if you can find one for cheep locally. but it being a 75 dont know how hard it will be to find one since you took the screw out for the ignition lock it should just pull out of there. i believe the ignition switch itself that is on top of the column is what makes it spring back after starting it. so maybe that went bad. ive never seen or even heard of that actual bar going bad.

lower the column and see if the ignition switch broke or the rod fell out. these old trucks are simple not much that can go wrong
