Default Bearing question

I have something gone bad on the new K5.. i have the dreaded bearing squeak but also as I was driving it to work when i took off i got a vibration like the D.S. Wheel was shuddering back and forth. My question I know its an issue with the bearing but I would like to know if the 1987 K5 has bearing assembly or if its just regular bearings with races that need to be changed out for new ones.

Thank you!

Regular bearings with races. You will need a special 4 pin socket to remove the spindle nut.

You can search for articles on rebuilding the Dana 44 on google for some pictures of the process and what you need to do it. It really is not that involved.

Not sure what they would have given you. You will need to buy the outer bearing set consisting of the bearing and its corresponding outer race as well as the inner race and inner bearing. The inner bearing & race come separately. You will probably want to pick up a seal to complete the repair.

Here is a good article from PavementSucks.com --> Dana 44 Manual Hub Rebuild
