Blazer Loosing Power Sudenly Oil Leaking Video posted
Hey guys, been a while since I've posted on here, but have a problem with my truck.
I have an 87 Blazer with a 6.2L
So usually when I drive my truck I don't really have problems with acceleration and such, usually moves alright.
However lately I've had a lot of issues, the truck just doesn't have power, when I hit a hill it just slows right down like I'm not even giving gas.
This is very odd.
I do have a whining noise that I believe to be coming from my rear end, I think its the diff gears, but haven't gotten around to changing it.
And the truck kinda sounds like it has and exhaust leak, but I've checked the pipes and could find a leak anywhere so no sure whats making that.
Now my Father says the thinks it might be a blown head gasket but its not blowing tonnes of white smoke so not too sure.
Seems like oil is leaking above the oil filter, and below the manifold.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Give it a compression check. Rings could be going bad which would result in a lot of blow by and loss of power. Is your oil milky at all? This would help rule out a head gasket leak. Also, unless your head gasket is completely destroyed you probably wouldnt notice a hig difference in power like you are describing.

is yours a c-code 6.2L?
take your air filter off and look in your intake manifold
if there is a big egr in the center you have a c-code.
make sure that isn't plugged up with carbon.

87 SHOULDN'T be susceptible to the "flex ring" failure in the IP unless it was replaced with an older IP at some point. What you're describing to me sounds like the beginnings of IP failure.
Open the top of your IP and see if you see "coffee grounds" in there...if so you can normally "get away" with drilling the check ball out of the fuel return nipple so that you can get better flow out of the pump and get you by for a few days till you can get a new pump.
Have you checked your injector return lines for leaks? any air in the system? contaminated fuel? When's the last time the fuel filter was replaced (on them old diesels you gotta replace it like every oil change). Do you use any additives in the fuel?
That oil leak is coming from where the cooler lines connect to the block. or from where they go from hardlines to rubber.
There's a forum just for the chevy diesels with alot of great guys on there dieselplace.com I'm a member there but i haven't been on in a while.
