my 1983 2.8 litre is loosing power during acceleration like during passing or going uphill. Replaced carb, plugs, wires, oil & filter changed. Idles fine. Please help if you can. This is my everyday drive! I'm at a loss. Thank you! CANT WAIT TO UPGRADE!!

Yes it does.Could it be the cat?.....

 

yes maybe the cat. but then again maybe something else. need more details.
it could be a fuel filter amoung other things.

did you do a fuel pressure test? how about testing for vacuum leaks? On an 83 there is a good chance you have rotted or broken vac lines

 

changed most of the vac lines and tested the rest ,have not done fual pressure test yet .thanks so far for the help ill keep trying. the 83 has a fuel filter is in the gas tank could not find one on the frame????

 

my 85 was the same way. it was slow, just figured it was old. but got on the highway and trying to accelerate off a onramp was impossible. ended up being a clogged converter
