Front Wheel Actuator question!

I have a 93 fullsize blazer 350, my 4x4 fuse is blowing and one of my friends told me that the front wheel actuator went out. Before I go blow $80 on a actuator I was wondering if there was a way to test the actuator?

I wonder if you could unplug it then try operating the 4x4 systems. If it engages and doesn't blow the fuse then there's your problem

thats what i would do if the fuse is still good then it probably bad
