Default having to hold shifter to keep in 4W

OK...i tried to post this before and i did not know enough about my truck to allow you guys to help diagnose my prob. I am very new to 4x4 trucks and maintainance so i hope my questionsaren't too vague.
I have a 1977 Full sized Blazer with a th300 trans, 203 transfer case, 1980 454 engine and a dana 44 with locking hubs. The truck has a 3" lift with 33" BFGs. The truck runs great in 4 wheel drive, the problem is, i have to hold the shifetr in place. What do i need to do? Thanks
