Can you tell me if I have to replace the whole hub to replace the bearings ?
I think the bearings are shot, when I go on EBAY etc for prices the only thing that comes up are full hubs, not the individual bearing. Thanks.

 

It might help to know what year you are driving...

If it is the 92+ K5's, then your only option is the complete hub.

Just bearings inside between the spindle and the hub itself. It can try your patience though. Especially when it comes to removing the races from the hub.

THIS ARTICLE will walk you through the process. Your front axle is the GM Corporate 10-bolt front which at the outside is almost the same as the Dana 44.

 

Do you think the process concerning the spindle bearing replacement is the same? I didn't really see in his photos the actual spindle bearing.

 

The tapered roller bearings just drop out of either side of the hub. The outer races need to be first driven out and then the new races pressed in.

As far as the spindle is concerned (not to be confused with the driveshaft), the bearings slide over the outside of it with a slip fit. There are no bearings inside the spindle where the driveshaft slides through. The axle shaft is supported by the splines of the lockout hubs.
